Kidnappaushuhuja

Parin viime päivän aikana keskustelua on herättänyt uutiset erään koulun lähellä tapahtuneista kidnappausyrityksistä. Luin asiasta ensimmäisen kerran eräästä Facebook-ryhmästä, mutta pian alkoi tulla tietoa myös lastemme luokkien infovastaavilta. Tieto oli levinnyt ilmeisesti kulovalkean tavoin myös EU-instituutioissa tyskentelevien keskuudessa.

Osa eräästä viestistä, joka oli alunperin Brittien EU-edustustosta:

"A staff member has made me aware that there is a rumour going around the English speaking community that a possible kidnap attempt of a child took place in Auderghem last week.

I have today spoken to my police contact who has confirmed the following:

There have been 3 seperate kidnap attempts over the last 3 weeks in and around the schools in Auderghem. On all 3 occasions, children between the age of 7-10 were targeted. All 3 attempts were made in the same area (in and around Rue Jean Van Horenbeeck), and on each occasion all 3 cars were different and all 3 persons involved were different.

Fortunately, all 3 attempts were unsuccessful, and no violence (just coercion) was used."

Tänään sitten tuli forwardoitu viesti, joka on alunperin lähetetty Eurooppa-koulu Bryssel IV:sta (omat lapset II:ssa):

"A number of mails have been circulating in the Commission indicating attempted child kidnappings in Brussels. As such, the Security Directorate has been in contact with the Local Authorities, who have confirmed that there have been no attempted kidnappings." 

Tiedot ovat vähintäänkin ristiriitaisia. Mihin näistä nyt sitten uskoa? Hyvä tietysti, jos mitään kidnappausyrityksiä ei ole ollut. Joka tapauksessa tämä on ollut hyvä muistutus itselle siitä, että tämä ei ole mikään Suomi, jossa lapset voi kaupan leluhyllylle jättää katselemaan, kun itse tekee viereisellä käytävällä ostoksia.
